Looking for a fresh hobby, a one-time creative escape, or just something enjoyable to fill your day? This wheel throwing class is your perfect sampler.
Arrive at our cosy boutique studio and dive into a two-hour introduction to the pottery wheel. You’ll learn the basics: how to prepare your clay, centre it on the wheel, and pull up the walls of a simple form. Think of it as your first delicious taste of the pottery world.
You’ll head home with clay on your hands, a smile on your face, and one or two pieces you’ve thrown yourself. After drying and initially firing them, you can book in for a underglazing session, and we will glaze and fire them again.
Once they’re ready, you’ll collect your beautifully finished keepsakes—a perfect reminder of your first spin on the wheel.

Hi, I’m Kelli Warner — and welcome to Umu Clay, a little world shaped by love, creativity, and a nickname my two daughters gave me: Umu.
After years of teaching high school visual art (and cheering on everyone else’s creativity), I finally decided it was time to give my own passions some space to breathe.
Now I’m all in on my lifelong love of clay — exploring, experimenting, and creating pieces that bring joy, texture, and a bit of whimsy into everyday life.
