What you'll do
Tour the Old Kempton Distillery, learn all about the distillation process, enjoy behind the scenes glimpses of production, indulge in a delicious lunch in the grand coaching inn and try a variety of the wonderful spirits made on-site in this premium whisky experience with Old Kempton Distillery!
Nestled in the colonial town of Kempton, Old Kempton Distillery is located in Dysart House, a historic mansion dating back to the 1840s. During this experience, you’ll hear all the stories of the building, ghost tales included.
Joining your expert guide, you’ll explore the workings of the place, enjoying an amazing opportunity to see how a distillery works on a day-to-day basis. Old Kempton Distillery makes a variety of spirits including single malts, gin, liqueurs and schnapps. Everything is created with care, using 100 per cent Tasmanian ingredients.
Taking a look behind the scenes, you'll be shown the distillery’s wonderful bond store, an Aladdin’s cave of maturing whisky in coopered barrels of all shapes and sizes. Each tour is unique, and you’ll be fascinated by the methods used to make a range of exceptional products.
After lots of touring and history, you’ll be ready to settle down with a premium antipasto platter, full of Tasmanian produce. To perfectly complement your lunch choice, you’ll be invited to select a delicious bottle of Tasmanian wine to share. If you’re hoping for a perfect date with your loved one you’ve come to the right place!
After your lunch, you’ll take a seat in the tasting rooms, located in the grand coaching inn. A guided tasting of four Old Kempton Distillery products will follow and you'll learn all about the different spirits and their unique characteristics.
You'll top off your day with a freshly brewed coffee or tea and a browse in the cellar door - full of locally made produce and souvenirs of your visit.

Located in an 1840s mansion in the picturesque town of Kempton, Old Kempton Distillery welcomes you to take a closer look into the fascinating process of creating spirits. Although whisky is the focus, Old Kempton also makes gins and liqueurs on-site, giving you a broad insight into the methods of distillation.
