Looking to try out a new skill? Experience the creativity of sewing through a sewing workshop located in Paddington.
Sewnwithjoy aims to empower and educate about the art of sewing as well as inspire with easy-to-follow guided workshops.
In this sewing class, you will learn how to make a classic, minimalist linen tote bag with guidance from a friendly instructor from start to finish. This simple yet elevated design is beginner friendly and achievable as well as luxurious and inclusive. Your new functional and gorgeous tote bag will leave you beaming with pride!
In this workshop you will learn how to:
- Sew a flat felled seam
- Attach an external facing
- Apply decorative topstitching
You’ll be surprised at what you can achieve in a single workshop! If you'd like to learn how to sew or try a new relaxing and useful hobby, why not try sewing? This class makes for great things to do in Brisbane and will allow you to spend a day being creative. meeting like-minded people and learning new skills that you can call upon time and again!

Knowledge required
This is a beginner-friendly class, suitable for those who have had a go at sewing straight lines and are confident threading and operating their machine. Please note there will not be sufficient time for our instructor to troubleshoot issues with machines during the class. We would appreciate if you could come 15 minutes earlier and familiarise yourself with your machine prior to the workshop.
What you'll get
- Your own completed linen market tote to take home!
- Natural fibre heavyweight linen
- High-quality rasant threads and all notions required to complete the tote
- Access to tools including a sewing machine, bobbin, iron, scissors and rulers for the duration of the workshop
- Two and a half hours of guided sewing
What to bring
- Please wear closed in shoes
- Bring a hair tie to tie up hair longer than shoulder length
