What you'll do

Is your child eager to learn a new skill? Join us for an exciting sewing class where kids will create their very own emoji cushion!

In this hands-on workshop, children will choose and cut the pattern they want, then learn to sew the facial features onto the cushion. They will learn basic sewing techniques using a sewing machine, also hand stitching after they have stuffed the cushion.

Kids are encouraged to bring their own machine if possible, to learn on their specific machine. If not, there are two sewing machines available for them to use. One is a Singer Heavy Duty, the other is my tried and true Janome My Style that we have had for many years. It was recently serviced with a new motor.

Supervision and safety:

All children will be closely supervised by the instructor throughout the class, especially when using sewing machines.
Children will be taught proper sewing machine operation and safety procedures before using them.
Include information about safe handling of needles and pins.
Children will be instructed on the correct way to handle and pass scissors.

What to expect:

Introduction to sewing machine basics and safety
Cutting and preparing fabric
Sewing techniques for beginners
Stuffing and finishing the cushion
Hand sewing to close the cushion

By the end of the class, each child will have their very own handmade emoji cushion to take home and show off to family and friends!

Their own sewing machine if they have one and want to learn on it.
Snacks of choice and a water bottle.
Children should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, also long hair should be tied back.
