Calling all jewellery enthusiasts! It's time to cast your pendants for Christmas gifts.
Join us at our Silver Casting Jewellery Making Class and discover the fascinating world of transforming sterling silver into wearable art! From mastering mould making to pouring the molten metal, this class will ignite your passion for craftsmanship. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity, book your spot at ClassBento today! Design and create your own one-of-a-kind pendants or jewellery at this hands-on, silver casting workshop with Alvin in Geebung.
At this unique jewellery making workshop, you'll learn how to make moulds of the shape you would like to create for your design before melting and pouring sterling silver into the moulds you've made.
This technique is extremely useful for replicating unique or obsolete jewellery items and is a relaxing and mindful craft. This process of replication is limited to odd shapes or shapes that cause to have undercuts in the mould.
At the end of the class, return home with two stunning sterling silver jewellery pendants and the confidence to continue silver casting. Each cast made is not more than 5 grams.

He also informed about other silver smithing methodologies, and using other moulds and metals. Alvin made sure I left not only with the two pieces of jewellery I made, but ensured they were usable. The class can use pieces he had or replicate something small brought in. Would highly recommend this class.

  • 5/5 from Taylah Martin, attended Apr 2023: I had an amazing silver casting class experience with Alvin as the teacher. He was knowledgeable, patient, and always available to answer questions. The class was well-organized and structured, starting with basics and progressing to advanced techniques. I highly recommend this class!
  • 5/5 from Joanne Ryan, attended Apr 2023: Very well set up workshop space. Knowledge and approachable teacher. Good value. As molten metal was involved the tuition in safety was good. I came away with a good basic understanding of the delft clay casting method.
  • 5/5 from Annette Learey, attended Mar 2023: The teacher was friendly, calm, patient and helpful. The casting options from his available pendant collection were very souvenir-shop-themed. But he does explain what types of objects make good molds and bad molds. If you'd not be happy wearing a koala, turtle, dragonfly, or Hei Matau around your neck or to gift, bringing in a pendant or keyring charm you would like a silver copy of wouldn't go astray (bearing in mind it has to be pretty flat without complicated/protruding boundaries). I wouldn't recommend this activity in summer if you're averse to heat. The steep learning curve is challenging but also enables you to really get in the zone. I have a mind to come back with some new casting ideas.
  • 5/5 from Regan Hess, attended Mar 2023: The instructor was very knowledgeable, and the workshop was a great set up for the class. Enjoyed the encouragement by Alvin using the tools for the first time. Would definitely recommend this class to others. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Conor Rackemann, attended Feb 2023: TLDR This is one of the best classes on this site and the teacher is one of the best people you will ever meet do this class the value for money is amazing. Alvin was amazing one of the friendliest people you will meet in your life. It was an amazing space to learn. It was probably the most I have ever learnt from a ClassBento class and Alvin teaches you every step if you wanted to after doing this class you could go off and do it yourself confidently. It is incredible value for money the pieces you get to make are beautiful. I have injuries and disabilities and Alvin let me do everything myself and helped me when I asked. ClassBento asks what the best thing about the class was and even though I have now confidently learnt a new skill, the teacher Alvin was definitely the best part he was amazing and so kind, caring and enthusiastic. I can't wait to go again.
  • 5/5 from Kathy Pearson, attended Feb 2023: What a knowledgeable teacher Alvin is! Patient, thorough, accommodating and chill. Alvin's studio is spotless, light and breezy and very well equipped. I would be very happy to recommend his class. 5 Stars. :)
  • 5/5 from Sandra Smith, attended Jan 2023: I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Alvin had lots of information to share and gave great advise as you went along in the process of cast making. The venue was well equiped using quality materials to accomplish the pendant created. I left very happy having completed the pendants and comfortable to purchase the materials I need to create some more pieces. Highly recommend this. I had no knowledge on arrival but left with a new skill to practice. Thank you so much Alvin.

His workhop in his beautiful garden is bright, so well organised and shows how much pride he takes in his work. I can really recommend this class. Not only have I learned new things but I left feeling really happy. 5 stars
  • 5/5 from Alex Mills, attended Dec 2021: This class was so much fun and so different to anything else I've done. Alvin was a great teacher, very kind and gave very clear instructions. The venue is fantastic, Alvin has his own shed out back with a fan (sorry, no air-con). If you experience mobility barriers or need to use a mobility device you might struggle up the hill as the path from parking to shed is not completely paved. I would highly recommend this workshop.
  • 5/5 from Sean Zee, attended Dec 2021: Really good course! Patient, knowledgeable instructor in a tidy bright shop space. Excellent value for one-on-one instruction.
