Stencil Printing Class

Make cute paper boxes with your own colourful stencil prints in this beginner-friendly class.

3 hours Class size 4 to 10 guests

$110 ($120 per guest when you book for 4+ guests, $110/guest for 4+ guests. $50 per class surcharge applies for private classes) (Afterpay available)

In this relaxed 3-hour class, you'll explore stencil printing and paper sculpture with a fun twist—and a light footprint.
You'll explore sponge painting and stencilling, a simple printmaking technique on printmaking paper using delicate skeleton leaf patterns provided by your tutor.
Experimental printmaker Rachael Lee, your tutor for this class, will guide you through this exciting process.
Using recycled cardboard packaging as inspiration, you’ll trace, print, and fold your paper boxes, bringing them to life with delicate skeleton leaf stencil designs and vibrant colours. With full creative freedom to choose your shapes and colour combos, no two vessels will be the same!
You'll learn how to cut, crease, and assemble your pieces into beautiful, fragile paper forms, combining craft, colour, and sustainability. All templates are drawn from reused packaging, and all materials are thoughtfully chosen to minimise waste.
Perfect for anyone wanting to try something new, no experience necessary, just bring your curiosity and a love of making. You’ll leave the class with a small collection of unique, beautifully printed and folded paper vessels ready to display or gift and a new appreciation for turning the everyday into something special.

The studio is located in a commercial complex on the corner of Earnshaw Road and Depot Street, near the old Golden Circle Cannery. As you enter the complex, look for the number #13 and the Art from the Urban Wilderness signs. There are 3 onsite car parks. During the week, we recommend you park on the road and walk up the driveway. If you have lots of gear you can drop it off and then park. If you need to park close to the door for accessibility reasons, let us know prior so we can reserve a park for you. On weekends or after hours, you can park within the complex in a marked car parking bay (not in front of roller doors), as its very quiet then.

Rachael Lee

Rachael Lee approaches her art practice with the same curiosity that she brings to exploring her local natural surroundings. She works with non-toxic experimental printmaking techniques, creating layered works using linocut, etched linocut, stencils, collagraph, drypoint and monoprinting. By combining shape, line and texture in her prints she seeks to highlight the underlying patterns, rhythms and soothing effects of nature.

Rachael is passionate about sharing her printmaking knowledge and over the last ten years has exhibited, given artist talks and run workshops for teachers, students and community groups in Southeast Queensland.
