I’m Melissa, a potter and English teacher based in Brighton on the northern bayside of Brisbane. I've been more seriously doing pottery for about four years after taking a class in wheel throwing. Working with clay is addictive, good for personal well-being, and achievable — and that’s why I keep coming back to it.
I now work from my home studio, where I enjoy both hand-building and wheel throwing objects that I mostly gift to family and friends. I'm a member of my local community studio, which allows me to learn from other potters. I now fire at home wiht my own kiln and mix many of my own glazes.
Alongside making, I've taught high school English and Arts for about ten years. My workshops are calm, encouraging and thoughtfully structured — and I cater mostly for beginners
I'm fairly confident that after a class or two, you may catch the very contagious pottery bug and I hope you do.
