I can teach you how to weave a scarf or a shawl at my home overlooking the Mary Valley and national forest with spectacular views. I weave custom-made scarves that are completely unique, using the best quality yarn. No need to bring anything but yourself. You will leave with your finished product on the second day.

Children over eight are welcome to join my classes, the perfect age for them to begin their weaving journey.

I am extremely flexible with times and dates. Days do not need to be consecutive.

I am also a TESOL Teacher (teach English to speakers of other languages) and have my Bluecard.

My daughter and I had a wonderful couple of days with Susan working on our scarves. We feel very inspired to continue with our newfound knowledge thanks to Susan who made learning this new craft so much fun. We have leaped forward in a way we could never have achieved if we have tried to do it online! Thank you Susan for so generously sharing your knowledge and time.

Out from Eumundi Qld and up a country dirt lane lives laid back weaving teacher Susan (Susy). Upon arrival the views of countryside and distant mountains will greet you with its beauty. Susy welcomes you with a warm friendly smile while her friendly dogs boisterously tell Susy that you've arrived. Susy will take you to an undercover outdoor area where your looms are waiting to challenge your creativity. Susy has an array of spun yarn in colours and textures and pieces that she has made on display and will guide you in what you may like to weave. Day one is warping the loom in readiness for the most exciting part - weaving. Susy makes you feel right at home and answers any questions you may have. With the lovely views, happy dogs and yummy lunch, I enjoyed my experience of weaving as a beginner and left with a woven piece I was pleased with that I plan to use on the front of a cushion cover.

Susan was very helpful and her teaching was clear and easy to follow. The location was wonderful, we were outside with an amazing view; it was very warm with lots of light/sun.
I learned how to warp a rigid heddle loom and how to think about designing the piece and it was a great mix of support from Susan anytime we got stuck and letting us work independently.
The materials were great and varied, lots of choice.

Had a fantastic time learning to use the Rigid Heddle loom with Susy.
Suzy is an excellent teacher, really focused on teaching students the correct way to warp & thread & weave the loom as well as explaining lots of detail with different types of natural yarns and thicknesses.
The classes are taught in a beautiful, relaxed environment with amazing views of the surrounding hinterland.
I really enjoyed the two days I spent with Susy and would definitely recommend the experience! I came away with lots of inspiration and plan to continue my weaving journey.

We really enjoyed our Weaving Course for Beginners. Susan is an great teacher; she was very friendly and enthusiastic and patiently answered our many questions. She was very generous with her time, expertise and materials. She showed us all the steps involved in loom weaving, from warping the loom to finishing off, how to correct mistakes, and tips to improve your project and process. She talked about the pros and cons of different materials and equipment and gave us lots of links to on-line resources and groups. Sitting on her patio, looking out over the lovely Sunshine Coast hinterland, chatting and weaving was a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. By the end of our two sessions, we got exactly what we had hoped for - a useful and attractive piece of weaving, and the skills and motivation to continue on our weaving journey. To make the most of your course, I would highly recommend that before you start the course, you have a good idea of the item you would like to make (table runner, cushion cover, place mats are all achievable in the timeframe) and the colours/materials you would like to use, and discuss this with Susan prior to your course, so that she can be prepared to help you achieve your goal.

Susan is a passionate weaver who appears to thrive on sharing her success and learnings with students. A lovely, warm and engaged teacher Susan is an ideal coach/mentor for new weavers. My daughter and I had no experience or exposure to weaving before exploring this offering and came away with completed individual scarfs we will be proud to wear. My daughter is now confidently looking at purchasing her own loom to expand on skills learned. Well worth the investment of time.
