Fun beginner pattern making workshop with an international designer

4 x 5 hours Class size 1 on 1       $1,800

In this garment construction class in Brisbane/SE Qld, you will learn the intricacies of creating your very own sample (Toile is the French name for a sample) through:
1. Fit Model Analysis
2. Basic Bodice Block
3. Basic Skirt Block
4. Basic Trouser Block.
All workshops are taught by an international designer. Hey everyone
Thanks for stopping by. I'm a tea drinking, dog & cat obsessed fashion teacher by day… by night a mummy to a cartwheeling 10 year dance, sport & YouTube loving tween. Plus a loving daughter to a beautiful mum recently diagnosed with early stages dementia.
Devastated is an understatement.
My mum taught me everything I knew about sewing for most of my life. Until I started working with exclusive brands. Because her skills were so highly sort after I wanted to learn the art of pattern making & drafting garments from measurements.
Fast forward 30 years and now I’m teaching these skills to students in VET. Teaching as a profession since 2013.
My career in this industry started officially in grade 11 (1991) in West End at a Fashion Agency, side note is a grew up looking at her sew from home in bouncer in the mid 70s in Daisy Hill. Studied Couture at Tafe then landed a fantastic posting at Triumph International as a textile / fabric librarian. After this I magically gained an enviable position as head textile designer at a knitting mill in Browns plains. Travelling the world researching ideas & trends. Drawing everyday.
This led me to a position of garment designer for manufacturer in Brisbane.
From this, I courageously decided to move overseas working for brands such as Ted Baker, ASOS, Top Shop, Selfridges and more in London. I learnt so much here.
After 4 years I moved back to Australia and with the desire to teach. Which I’ve been doing with in my business Fashion Student.
My love is creativity and daydreaming. However this industry is a business which I completely understand. It’s changing and I’m hoping the wider community will allow for positive more sustainable options.
The workshops I have available are unique to me as I’ve been writing qualifications for the past 8 years.
I truly hope you enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed creating the.
