Outdoor Floral Watercolour Painting Workshop

A great intro to the world of watercolour

3 hours Class size 6 to 40 guests       $75

Please note that in winter months we will be indoors to keep warm! Unless it's a freakishly warm day. From April to September it will be held indoors but overlooking the garden.
Looking for hens party ideas or a getaway with some friends? Join Pamela Woods for her relaxing watercolour painting workshop in the Blue Mountains!
The class takes place in a beautiful, historic, 1890's garden home typical of the area. Pamela will show you how to use basic brushstrokes to create lots of different flowers based on whatever varieties that grow in the area.
If you're looking for creative activities to try in the Blue Mountains, why not learn a new skill from a friendly professional at this watercolour painting class for beginners.
The mountains can get cold and we maybe be outside, so please bring warm clothing! We will sit on a terrace under cover if it rains in the summer and paint indoors in the winter.

  • 5/5 from Adriana White, attended Feb 2025: It was a pleasant and enjoyable time spent learning a new skill in a lovely environment with Pamela who, was enthusiastic about her craft and it showed in the way she expressed herself and how she taught us how to use watercolours to produce our own unique floral artwork. Pamela was so encouraging and also a wonderful host who baked a delicious apple cake to share on our tea break. Thank you.
  • 5/5 from Linda Rowntree, attended Mar 2024: A great gift from my son! Pam was a very lovely and efficient teacher. She demonstrated very clearly and redemonstrated when needed. Materials were high quality. We all walked away with new skills and an accomplished art work
  • 4/5 from Karyne Ang, attended Mar 2024: Pamela is a great teacher, and showed us the various tools used in water colour painting - brushes, different papers and textures and tube vs cake pan paints. Using just 1 brush, she showed us a variety of brush strokes to achieve different types of leaves, stalks, berries, petals. I gave it a 4 star Good rather than 5 star Great only because although the workshop indicated 'Outdoor Florals' and my expectation was that we would sit in nature (or outdoors) to paint florals. The instructions said to bring sunscreen, hat and walking shoes! However, we spent the whole time on a sheltered balcony overlooking a garden. She did picked some leaves and flowers in a vase, but we did not use it for painting (except to look at a sprig of little pink flowers as inspiration). The whole session was spent learning to paint imagined florals (roses, boronias, lavenders, ferns, berries). If one did not know what a boronia looked like, it would be difficult to capture the essence of the flower. Venue: Her balcony was spacious and beautifully set, and all in all, still a relaxing way to spend a freehand watercolor painting session. I did enjoy Pamela's workshop. She structured it well and I came out of it with new techniques, courage to use some beautiful watercolour paper, produced samples of different strokes, wet on wet, wet on dry, and an integrated floral art piece, and as a bonus she baked us a delicious plum cake with tea and coffee!
  • 5/5 from Elizabeth Flett, attended Jan 2024: Pamela is a fantastic teacher. She is talented, supportive and delivers a great learning experience. The venue was idyllic and the delicious afternoon tea was a bonus. I highly recommend this class.
  • 5/5 from Rebecca Yee, attended May 2023: It was excellent! Ran very well. Even though I have almost no creative streak, Pamela kept things simple and I managed to produce something that looked good. She even provided cake and tea. All of the people I went with (because it was for a hens) thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • 5/5 from Michele Driscoll, attended Feb 2023: After giving us a comprehensive introduction to the tools used in water colour painting, Pamela expertly demonstrated simple brush strokes to produce a variety of different shaped leaves and petals. Trying out brush strokes, sitting on Pamela's verandah was peaceful and relaxing and a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It was good to be able to explore different paints, brushes and papers to work with. Pamela's workshop was full of generous instruction, materials and a sumptuous afternoon tea. It would be difficult to say what I enjoyed the most - All of it!
