Nature & Botanicals - In Depth
$89 | Technique Masterclass
A part of the Live For Art Gelli Print Studio Series where you build skills, explore your style, and create with confidence.
Are you inspired by nature? Botanicals are amazing to use on the Gel Plate. The natural patterns of leaves and flowers create beautiful effects as you experiment in this class with multiple leaves, masking techniques, targeted colouring, and subtle layering to create intricate, nature-inspired prints full of depth and movement. We will cover the basics and then delve deeper into some more complex designs using masking and layering techniques, even using leaves as a mask over other botanical patterns.
This class is perfect for those drawn to natural forms and wanting to create more refined, detailed botanical artworks.
You’ll take home a collection of unique A4 artful botanical papers (printed from an 8 x 10 Gelli plate), ready to frame or use in card making, collage, art journaling, or other creative projects.
The Gelli Print Studio Series
Build skills. Explore your style. Create with confidence.
Our fun, hands-on Gelli printing classes let your inner creative take the wheel. Discover the magic of layering paint on the Gelli plate using natural textures, graphic stencils, and expressive colour.
The Gelli Print Studio Series offers fun, hands-on printmaking workshops designed to help you build skills and confidence in a relaxed studio environment.
If just starting out, we recommend our Gelli Printing - Nature and Patterns Introductory workshop (see other listing), where you’ll learn the foundations of working with the Gelli plate. From there, you’re free to explore more in-depth whichever creative direction inspires you most — botanicals, bold abstract forms, or image transfer techniques.
Each class stands alone, but together they form a rich, skill-building journey. Many students return again and again, developing their own style while discovering new techniques in a supportive and inspiring Melbourne art studio.
All classes focus on play, discovery, and building confidence through simple, repeatable techniques — creating plenty of beautiful prints along the way.
Whether you're searching for weekend activities in Melbourne, a creative night out, or a printmaking class to expand your skills, this series offers a welcoming and inspiring place to start.
