Get Tinny: Learn Low-cost Cooking

3 hours Class size 12 to 40 guests       $135

Think tinned food is boring? Think again.

In this hands-on cooking workshop, you’ll learn how to create genuinely delicious, nourishing meals using affordable, everyday ingredients, with a special focus on tinned and canned staples you probably already have in your pantry.

Perfect for beginners, students, budget-conscious cooks, or anyone wanting to eat well without spending a fortune, this class is all about practical skills, flavour-building, and clever swaps that make low-cost cooking feel exciting rather than restrictive.

What you’ll learn:

- How to turn tinned and pantry ingredients into flavour-packed meals - Smart ways to build depth and richness using spices, acids, and texture - Budget-friendly protein options (beans, lentils, fish, and more) - How to balance nutrition and taste when cooking on a tight budget - Simple techniques to elevate humble ingredients into something special

What we’ll make:

You’ll cook and taste a selection of versatile, low-cost dishes that can easily be adapted at home; think comforting, flexible meals designed for real life, not perfection. Recipes will be shared so you can recreate them again and again.

Who this workshop is for:

- Beginner or home cooks wanting more confidence in the kitchen - Anyone cooking on a budget (without sacrificing flavour) - Students, creatives, and households looking for affordable meal ideas - People curious about pantry-first, low-waste cooking

No fancy equipment or prior cooking experience required – just curiosity and an appetite.

Accessibility & vibe:

This is a relaxed, supportive, and judgement-free class focused on practical skills and enjoyment. We prioritise accessible cooking methods, adaptable recipes, and a welcoming environment. This will be a vegetarian cooking session, however, Jess will discuss how to add meat for those interested.

Come and discover how a few tins, a little creativity, and the right techniques can transform the way you cook and eat every day.

Please note: This class requires at least 5 students to run. In the unlikely event that we don't get this number of students, we'll cancel the class, fully refund you, and inform you via email, so please watch your email a few days prior to the class.
