Have you always wanted to learn how to draw but didn't know where to begin? Or perhaps you've tried drawing before and felt frustrated because your artwork didn't turn out as you imagined?
Join Adriana at Kaleidoscope Art Room in Perth for a welcoming, hands-on four-week drawing course designed to introduce you to the essential foundations of drawing.
Drawing is one of the most valuable skills an artist can develop. Whether you dream of painting, illustrating, sketching nature or simply expressing yourself creatively, understanding the fundamentals of drawing will give you a strong foundation for your artistic journey.
Learn from an experienced artist and educator
Adriana began studying drawing at just 12 years old and has continued developing her artistic knowledge throughout her life, becoming a certified Natural History Illustrator.
With years of artistic and teaching experience, Adriana will guide you step by step, helping you understand drawing techniques, develop your observation skills and build confidence in your own creative abilities.
What will you learn?
Throughout this beginner-friendly course, you will be introduced to essential drawing principles, including:
Observation of shapes, forms and proportions.
Understanding light, shadow and tonal values.
Basic perspective and composition.
Pencil techniques, shading and mark-making.
Choosing and understanding drawing materials.
Developing confidence and your own artistic style.
Lessons combine practical exercises, demonstrations and individual guidance in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
This course welcomes adults and teenagers, including those who have never drawn before.
A little note about learning to draw:
Drawing is a skill that anyone can develop, but like learning a musical instrument or a new language, it requires time, patience and consistent practice.
This four-week course is designed to introduce you to the foundations of drawing, not to promise artistic mastery in a few lessons.
Everyone learns at their own pace, and individual results will vary depending on experience, dedication and practice.
You will receive professional guidance, encouragement and practical exercises to help strengthen your skills. Practising between lessons is strongly recommended, as it reinforces what you learn in class and helps you make meaningful progress.
Our philosophy is simple: progress over perfection!
Mistakes are part of learning, and every drawing is an opportunity to discover something new.
Come with an open mind, realistic expectations, curiosity and a willingness to learn. We'll provide the knowledge, guidance and encouragement to support your artistic journey!
More than just learning to draw:
Drawing can be a wonderful way to relax, reduce everyday stress and enjoy some creative time for yourself.
Whether you're learning for pleasure, personal fulfilment, artistic development or future creative opportunities, this course offers a supportive place to begin.
Important information before booking:
Artistic style: Adriana's teaching style focuses on organic, natural and free-flowing subjects. Anime, architectural drawing and technical drafting are not included in this course.
Materials: Some drawing products are available for purchase at our studio shop.
Attendance: Please make every effort to attend all four lessons. The first class is particularly important, as it introduces the fundamental techniques used throughout the course. If you cannot attend the first session, we recommend booking the next available course instead.
Travel fees: Additional travel fees may apply to classes arranged outside the studio.
Remember: You don't need to be talented to begin. You just need to be willing to learn, practise and enjoy the journey!
We look forward to welcoming you to Kaleidoscope Art Room!
