Watercolour Flower Painting Class for Beginners

Come and get started painting watercolour florals in this introductory workshop in Brisbane!

3 hours

Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 6 to 30
$94 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

If you've always wanted to be able to sit down and relax while you paint some florals in watercolour, this is the class for you.
We will be working on multiple small sheets of top-quality textured watercolour paper. You'll learn how you can create all the colours you need from just three tubes of professional watercolour paint.
First, we'll start by working on some exercises to practise our colour mixing and we'll try out the different petal and leaf shapes we can create with just a couple of brushes. Please note that line art transfers will be provided if you don't like the idea of painting freehand.
I will guide you step by step through three simple flower paintings, where we'll experiment with both a looser, expressive style and a slightly more refined approach. You'll learn when you need to work on dry paper, and when to work on wet paper, and you'll learn how to create different textural effects and how different ratios of water and paint will affect the appearance of your brushstrokes.
My goal is to give you a fantastic starting point, so you feel prepared to confidently begin painting your watercolour florals at home, and for you to know exactly which materials you can start with, without needing a huge budget. I will be available to answer any questions you may have during the class, and I'd love to see you there!
Please note: This class is booked into the upstairs space at Hive Studios, which requires walking up two flights of stairs. If this is an issue for you, please get in touch, and we can see if the downstairs space is available instead. Thank you!
What you'll get
All materials are provided for use within the class and you will take your completed floral paintings home with you. Tea and coffee are also provided.
