Watercolour Shell Painting Class for Beginners

Watercolour is the perfect medium for painting shells. Let me show you some tricks for bringing some to life! (No drawing skills required!)We will be working on multiple small sheets of top-quality textured watercolour paper, and you'll learn how you can create all the colours you need from a limited palette.First, we'll start by working on some exercises to practise each of our techniques before we paint our actual shells. Please note that line art transfers will be provided if you don't like the idea of painting freehand.You will learn how to create different textural effects and how different ratios of water and paint will affect the appearance of your brushstrokes. I will guide you step by step through a number of simple shell paintings, and I'll show you how to easily paint a soft shadow so your shells seem to pop off the page.In the final portion of the class, you'll have time to keep painting on your own. At this time you can continue working on one of your existing pieces, or you might like to try out some new versions of some of the shells you've already painted. I will be available to answer any of your questions and will continue with any further demonstrations as needed. I'll have some shells ready in the class for us to refer to, but feel free to bring some from your own collection along if you'd like my advice on how to recreate them in watercolour.My goal is to arm you with a valuable set of techniques, so you feel prepared to confidently begin painting your watercolour shells on your own, especially if you have a collection at home like I do!Please note: This class is booked into the upstairs space at Hive Studios, which requires walking up two flights of stairs.
