Learn how to transform old furniture in this upcycling class!

3 hours Class size 1 on 1

$249 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Got a piece of furniture at home you know could look amazing… but you don’t want to risk getting it wrong?
In this private, one-on-one workshop, you’ll bring your own piece and we'll guide you step-by-step through transforming it properly—no guesswork, no rushing, and no group classes.
You’ll learn how to prep, paint and finish your furniture using techniques that actually give a smooth, professional result while working on your own piece.
This is ideal if you’ve been putting something off because you’re unsure where to start, or you want to get it right the first time.
What you'll do:
  • Learn how to properly prep your piece (this is where most people go wrong)
  • Sand and prepare surfaces correctly
  • Apply paint for a smooth, even finish
  • Learn finishing techniques so your piece lasts
This is a private experience—you won’t be sharing the session with a group, so you’ll get focused, practical guidance tailored to your piece.
By the end of the class, you can take home your new and improved furniture home, as well as some new upcycling skills!
Please note:
  • Before booking, send through a photo of your furniture so we can confirm it’s suitable.
  • This session is designed to start or significantly progress your piece. Larger or more detailed items may require more than one session.
What you'll get
  • One-on-one guidance throughout the session
  • A relaxed, hands-on studio environment
  • All other materials (primers, sealers, tools, etc.) are provided
  • A professionally finished furniture piece (or significant progress on your own piece)
Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly.
What to bring
To keep things simple and make sure you get exactly the colour you want, you’ll bring your own paint. We’ll recommend the exact brand and type to use before your session—you just choose your colour and bring it along.

FAQ

What kind of furniture can I bring?
Small to medium pieces work best — bedside tables, small drawers, coffee tables, or similar. Before booking, please send me a photo of your piece so I can confirm it’s suitable for the session.
Do I need any experience?
Not at all. This is designed for beginners as well as anyone who wants to improve their technique. I’ll guide you step-by-step through the process.
Will I finish my piece in one session?
That depends on the size and condition of your piece. Most people will either complete a smaller item or make significant progress in one session. Larger or more detailed pieces may need a follow-up session.

What do I need to bring?
Your furniture piece, clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, and your chosen paint (based on my recommendation). All other materials and tools are provided.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes — sessions are kept small so you get proper guidance. You can book for two people, but anything larger becomes a group class, which I don’t offer.
Can you help me choose a colour?
Absolutely. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to guide you before your session so you feel confident in your choice.
What happens if my piece isn’t suitable?
If your piece isn’t suitable for a standard session, I’ll let you know and suggest a better option so you still get a great result.

I started Jived & Revived out of a love for taking tired, overlooked furniture and turning it into something you’d actually want in your home.
What began as doing up pieces for myself quickly turned into friends asking, “Can you do mine?” — and then into a business.
I’m not about quick paint jobs or cutting corners. The difference is always in the prep, the finish, and the detail — and that’s what I focus on.
I started running one-on-one workshops because I kept hearing the same thing: people had pieces at home they wanted to transform, but were too nervous to start or worried they’d get it wrong.
So instead of group classes, I keep it personal. You bring your piece, and I guide you through it properly — step by step — so you leave with something you’re actually proud of (and the confidence to do it again).
No fluff, no guesswork — just real, hands-on learning in a relaxed space.
