Make your own ceramics at this clay course excellent for beginners, intermediate as well as advanced students.

In this welcoming wheel throwing as well as hand building class in Melbourne, you will delve into the exciting world of pottery by creating own unique pieces by hand. Learn to master pottery techniques such as hand building, sculpting, and casting, guided by an experienced teacher who is there to support you every step of the way.
  • Over the course of eight weeks, you will be introduced to a variety of skills and techniques, all aimed at helping you unleash your creativity with clay.
  • The teacher will provide demonstrations, answer your questions, and offer valuable tips throughout the workshop.
  • Dive into the experience of working with clay, allowing yourself to experiment and sculpt your own pottery masterpiece.
  • At the end of it all, not only will you have gained new skills and a deeper appreciation for pottery, but you will also have a stunning piece to take home and showcase your newfound talent.
Please note:
  • The cost for the eight-week block is $580 per student.
  • Additional costs will be incurred for materials and firing, at $10 per kilo.
  • Optional basic tool kits can be purchased from the class for $15.

Perfect for beginners. As well as people with experience in ceramics.
 
What to bring
Working with clay can get messy so remember to wear old clothing. Bring an old towel and apron along as well. $25 for your first bag of clay. all tools provided.

This class series runs over 8 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.

Marlize Myburgh obtained a degree in Jewellery Design from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Through her studies and beyond, Marlize proved that she had a special talent for design by attaining various awards, including the De Beers Shining Light Award and the AngloGold Riches of Africa prize.
In the summer of 2005, Marlize and her family relocated to Melbourne, where she continued her studies. In 2009 Marlize received a Diploma of Jewellery Design from Box Hill TAFE. During June and July of the same year, she completed an artists’ residency program at the Cité Internationale Des Arts in Paris.
Marlize loves to experiment with different techniques and materials and in doing so, discovers new creative opportunities all the time. She also likes to play with the different textures of clays, surface applications and colour.
