Knowledge required
For photographers already comfortable with a single studio light. Our Studio Lighting Course (one light) is the natural prerequisite and runs on the first and third Saturday of each month, so you can do both inside four weeks. Ages 16+.
What to bring
A Canon DSLR or mirrorless body (our studio lighting is Canon-compatible), a charged battery and an empty memory card. No Canon, or no camera at all? Tell us when you book and use one of our studio cameras at no extra cost. Wear comfortable clothes, darker colours and flat shoes.

Hi, I’m Amir, the founder of Crown Visual Studio in South Melbourne.Photography has been part of my life since childhood — my father was a photographer, and I grew up surrounded by cameras, film, and the magic of light. I used to experiment endlessly with images, curious about how a small change in angle or light could completely transform a photo. That curiosity never faded; it evolved into a lifelong passion and eventually a career.Over the years, I’ve attended numerous workshops and mastered both natural and studio lighting, learning from top professionals and refining my own creative style. Today, through Crown Visual Studio, I specialize in portrait, fashion, and commercial photography, and I’ve worked with clients from Melbourne to international collaborations.Teaching came naturally — I love seeing the moment when someone truly understands light for the first time. My workshops are hands-on, creative, and designed to help photographers gain confidence and develop their own visual voice.Photography, for me, isn’t just about taking pictures — it’s about connection, storytelling, and the beautiful discipline of seeing the world through light.
