Bring Your Drawings to Life with Procreate
We will be running a holiday animation program during the term break for students who are interested in learning how animation works in a fun and creative way.
  • Date: Saturday, 4 July
  • Time: 1:30–3:30pm
  • Location: Winky.Studio
  • Suitable for: Students with basic Procreate skills
  • Students need: iPad, Apple Pencil, and Procreate app
In this beginner-friendly session, students will learn the foundation of animation through selected ideas from the 12 Principles of Animation.
The 12 Principles of Animation are the industry-based foundation used by professional animators to make animation look more natural, expressive, and believable. They were originally developed by Disney animators and are still widely used today in 2D animation, 3D animation, games, films, cartoons, and motion graphics.
During the workshop, students will explore beginner animation concepts such as:
  • Timing and spacing – how to make movement look fast, slow, heavy, or light
  • Squash and stretch – how to make movement look more lively and fun
  • Anticipation – how to prepare an action before it happens
  • Exaggeration – how to make expressions and movement more clear and entertaining
This class is perfect for students who enjoy drawing and would like to take the next step into animation. No previous animation experience is required, but students should be comfortable using basic Procreate tools.
By the end of the session, students will create their own short animation and learn how to make their drawings feel more alive.
