Hi, I’m Anna Konecny, the artist behind Anna Japana. I create artwork and jewellery using Mizuhiki, a traditional Japanese paper cord craft that symbolises connection, celebration, and care.

I started Mizuhiki as a way to reconnect with my Japanese heritage, and it quickly became my passion. Since 2020, I’ve taught over 250 people through workshops and community events, sharing this beautiful and meaningful art form with people of all ages.

My work blends Japanese tradition with Australian nature, and has been shown in exhibitions, sold through national art shows, and even won the Grand Prize in the Japan Foundation’s ‘What’s Your J-Talent?’ competition. I’m also part of the City of Casey Emerging Artist Creative Hub 2025.
