The class will cover both cooking skills and the art of presentation across a range of moods and styles. You will learn the art of culinary bling which is very chef-y, very easy and very impressive! Join us in sampling an array of cooking techniques and flavours from around the world.
These classes are suitable for all levels of passionate foodies whether you are just beginning, are intermediate, or consider yourself advanced. Enjoy an amazing meal and bring your camera to capture the moments!
We offer hands-on cooking classes in a small group that are fun, informative and a great feast in a relaxed and fun environment. Each class is a three-hour session run by an experienced chef that will guide you through the process of creating delicious meals. There is no individual workspace but you will work in small groups of up to four people to make the dishes off the menu.
Please note: The menu is based on available seasonal produce and is subject to change at the experience provider's discretion. You will work and cook together as a team and share a workspace and the kitchen equipment with other participants. A group cooking session with partial group participation is the most effective and fun way to add to your cooking skills. To ensure the class finishes on time some elements of the dishes are demonstrated.
Note: Groups of four or more guests will get their own private table. Support Workers must book and pay to enter.
Support Workers, Interpreters, Aids. Everyone must book and pay to enter. NDIS participants are highly recommended to bring Support Workers because of how the class runs (working in pairs etc). Please contact us to organise a discounted price for the Support Worker, Interpreter and Aids. Please be understanding, due to the layout of the class and safety & enjoyment of all guests, they must book in too.

  • 5/5 from Rachel Martin, attended Sep 2026: Chef Adrian was a great teacher. We had lots of fun and learned a really easy dish we can recreate at home easily. I probably will never make the Charlotte dessert (purely because I can’t imagine making one for each person at a special dinner) - but it was absolutely delicious! I was also really grateful that everything was already gluten free (minus one substitution which had been prearranged for me).
  • 5/5 from Alina Vitak, attended Jun 2026: My husband and I did the “Around the World” cooking class and loved it! Our trainer chef Elle was fantastic and the entire experience was seamless and fun. We learned not only how to make the specific recipes for that class but lots of time-saving tricks that we’ll use in everyday cooking. And it was great getting to know other class participants and cooking together. The food we made was delicious! And easy enough to recreate at home. Also thanks to the organisers for looking after my gluten-free requirement, it was very nicely done. We’ll be coming back for other classes.
  • 5/5 from Tania Hyde, attended May 2026: Our Chef (and instructor) Adrian was lovely. Engaging and genuine. His passion (and talent) for cooking was very evident. Everything was super clean. Whatever we needed was at our fingertips. The food we cooked was delicious and we didn't have to wash up! Lots of fun :)
  • 5/5 from Jo Gilliland, attended Mar 2026: We were gifted this “Around the World” class from our daughter as a Christmas present. Process of using the gift card to book in was simple. The class was great. Chef Adrien was very thorough in his instructions and helped us when we asked questions. The food was delicious. Loved that we get the recipes book emailed to use so we can cook the recipes again.
  • 5/5 from Fleur Becker, attended Jan 2026: The teacher was awesome and had a lovely accent. My interpreter understood him completely and learned some new skills from him. He was very organised and maintained excellent hygiene standards.
  • 5/5 from Sarah Forbes, attended Dec 2025: Chef Adrian was a great teacher, food was amazing, experience even better!
  • 5/5 from Brooke Dickson, attended Dec 2025: A fun afternoon had. Chef Adrian was great we learnt new things and ate a delicious meal, even went above a beyond to give some oven/hot plate tips for our kitchen renovation.
  • 5/5 from Tania Cleveland, attended Sep 2025: We really enjoyed the cooking class, our Teacher was great!
  • 5/5 from Ada Zhu, attended Aug 2025: I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is interested in cooking or a beginner. The class is very enjoyable, structured, organised and relaxed. The food tastes amazing! And the educator has a very good sense of humour and very experienced as well. I throughly enjoyed the class today. Thanks a lot and hope to return to the class again in the near future
  • 5/5 from Jake Cluff, attended Jun 2025: Amazing Class! Had a great time!
  • 5/5 from Jennie Day, attended Mar 2025: We did the Round The World cooking class. It was so good! Chef Shaun was a really good presenter and teacher. We learnt a lot of new skills and techniques in three restaurant quality plates - starter/main and dessert from Spain, Morrocco and France. With a drink from the bar! Sharing a table was fun, getting know others and we didn't have to do any washing up!! Great value - a 3 hour experience with a tasty meal too! Highly recommendas a present or an alternative to just going out for a meal!
  • 5/5 from Rachel Hollowood, attended Jan 2025: This class was amazing! Chef Elle did an awesome job at explaining each step and supporting students throughout the process. Definitely learnt some skills that I can now use in my kitchen at home! Will be back to try the other classes and certainly recommending to friends and family!
  • 5/5 from Roisin Scott-Magee, attended Jan 2025: It was a great class and I would recommend it to anyone. The teacher was really good and knew her stuff and presented really well.
  • 5/5 from Damian Gutteridge, attended Aug 2024: Mel was very informative and happy to answer any questions the class had. The techniques learnt such as the braising and cooking the lamb on a high heat will be something I use at home. The class was also accommodating as one of our guests is allergic to nuts but was still able to participate in making every dish.
  • 5/5 from Nicholas Costello, attended Jun 2024: Hoping to teach my 15 year old something she can use for life We arrived apprehensive due to our previous lacklustre set of cooking skills, Vanilla Zulu exceeded our expectations with Chef Mel going above and beyond to ensure the whole class succeeded in each element of the menu. Her mastery was obvious through a calm and often humerus demeanour backed by a very efficient and knowledgeable team. The versatility of the dishes actually did justice to the class name resulting in very valuable recipes to have learnt. Inspired to try further recipes we purchased 2 of chef Mel’s cookbooks, from which we combined 3 seperate dishes at home and were surprised to find all turned out as Intended. Will definitely return to partake in further classes.
  • 5/5 from Rachael Mackenzie, attended Jun 2024: It was an amazing and fun experience! The 3 hours flew by, but the pace was perfect and we had enough time between jobs to chat with each other. The best part was that we didn't have to wash any dirty dishes - a real bonus! The food was gourmet, very generous in portions and the teaching chef, El, was brilliant at her job. All the staff worked non-stop for the whole 3 hours and we want to thank them too. We will highly recommend Vanilla Zulu!!
  • 5/5 from John Galligan, attended May 2024: I'd received it as a gift for my 50th birthday (3 years ago :/). Elle was really great - informative, fun and entertaining. Venue was great and the staff worked really hard with all the boring prep work done. This made the class really efficient, but probably did give a false sense of how easy it is. It was like a cooking show :). I learnt a number of things. I really liked how Elle showed us how to blast the Moroccan lamb and achieve a result in 2 hours, that would otherwise take many hours. I also never do desserts, but the Charlotte was a really impressive, but quite an easy recipe that I may just do in the future. Yes, the class was good VfM - even just the meal would cost that much alone at a restaurant. Thanks everyone. I've also got a tapas class to do in a month, which I'm very much looking forward to.
  • 5/5 from Julieta Vilosio, attended May 2024: It was fantastic, the food, the teacher, the recipes... Even for terrible bakers like my partner and I, it all seemed easy to achieve.
  • 5/5 from Zoe Mellor, attended Apr 2024: Had a great experience! Chef El was very knowledgeable and shared great tips. Getting the recipes was great as we were in a group with others so didn’t get to make everything ourselves. The venue was great! Loved being able to order some drinks; looking forward to booking another one.
  • 4/5 from Natalie Auchterlonie, attended Apr 2024: A great way to celebrate a friends birthday, she is passionate about cooking. Chef Luka was informative and provided great instruction and advice. We had a wonderful day.
  • 5/5 from Sonia Bosnjak, attended Mar 2024: We just loved the class! The chef was excellent! Lots of fun and obviously very expert at his craft. The food was delicious and perfectly selected and the help of the assistants who did some of the work for us and ALL of the washing up was greatly appreciated. 10/10!

  • 5/5 from Tamryn Richards, attended Aug 2023: I did the ‘Around the world’ class today. The teacher and support staff were amazing. The teacher was so passionate about her craft and really inspired me. The venue had everything you needed but in terms of class size, a smaller class would have been better. We mostly had one of everything required for the techniques. 100% would spend the money to do this cooking class again. I have always been afraid of (and terrible at) desserts, but what I learned today makes me so excited for Christmas dessert We had a great group, they were good value; especially our table mates. I’m coming back with my sister, my best friend, and my husband; all on different days! Thanks for a wonderful experience, staff are amazing and I had a blast!
  • 5/5 from Sahil Amin, attended Jun 2023: Our teacher was great, she was very helpful on a one on one level and easy to learn from. The kitchen was was very well organised such that it was easy to find the right knives, bowls etc to cook with.

  • 5/5 from Sharon Brown, attended Mar 2023: We had a great time doing the ‘Around the World’ cooking class with Mel. She was friendly and helpful. All ingredients and utensils were provided and we worked at tables of 4, the other 2 ladies were fun to work with. We were all most impressed with our efforts, the results were delicious and the was plenty to take home for my husband’s dinner. Would definitely do another class at Vanilla Zulu.

  • 5/5 from Meredith Jacobs, attended Jan 2023: Lucy was brilliant - fun, engaging, friendly and easy to learn from. She was more than happy to share tips and her own knowledge of ingredients and dishes. The venue and the way the class was run was also excellent. It was good value for money and the food was delicious (if I do say so myself!), I bought this as a Christmas present for my partner who doesn't do much cooking (as I really enjoy it and do most of it myself) and I was a bit worried about whether he would enjoy it. He had an absolute ball, and said it was an experience he would always remember. I would totally recommend this to anyone, of any skill level!
  • 4/5 from Amorita Trattos, attended Jan 2023: A wonderful afternoon. The food was delicious and the cooking wasn’t laborious! Delicious Gin cocktails as well!

The food was chopped and prepared in serving sizes, we just had to mix it all together and cook it. Each step was explained clearly. And the staff washed everything as well, win, win. We will be back.
  • 5/5 from Joshua Hart, attended Aug 2022: 10/10 service Great value for money Very enjoyable and food was amazing. Thank you :)
  • 5/5 from Sophie Morrison, attended Jul 2022: The cooking class was amazing! Our chef was great and made the process really fun and enjoyable. The class was well planned and the best part was the food was to die for!
  • 4/5 from Michelle O'Dowd, attended Jul 2022: the teacher was great - i think people felt engaged with her class. However I was not overly happy with the set up of the deep fryers. They were open to the group and anyone could approach and use them at any time. Also an oven was under the fryers and at one stage I saw ducks being taken out of the oven while the fryers were in use above. My daughter in law got a small burn from splatter of the oil up her arms. I just think the safety around those fryers was not up to scratch.
  • 5/5 from Ann Ashton, attended Jun 2022: What a fantastic night. Chef Lucy was amazing and so insightful. I actually attended alone but was placed with an amazing team who were so much fun. We all enjoyed the night and the food was amazing. I encourage anyone or group to book it was a fun night.
