Bachata Lab

Hello! We are Kieran and Erica, the founders of Bachata Lab! No one is ever too late to start dancing, and we do not believe in two left feet. Bachata is a street Latin dance style that originated from the Dominican Republic, and it has been popular as a partner dance style since the 1990s. There is no choreography, just lead and follow on the spot! How cool is that?A little bit about us :) Our story started as two strangers who danced Bachata in different states (Gold Coast & Canberra), and we met through an interstate dance festival (yeah, we do that many times a year, you will get addicted!). Out of a crowd of hundreds of people, two people connected and began our journey together as life and dance partners. We founded Bachata Lab to grow the dance community in GC, and nothing brings us more joy than seeing our love and passion for dance reflected in our students! Nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone fall in love with this style and grow with it. We have been performing, teaching, and competing in Bachata for over 10 years, and we are also frequently invited to teach at national and overseas events.Trying something new, meeting new people, and finding a new activity other than work can be challenging as adults. Learning how to social dance is a great way to tick all of those boxes and make some lifelong genuine connections (some even span across the globe!).
