Arrive at the North Melbourne studio to a workspace already set up with sewing machines, all your sewing work pre-cut, comprehensive handouts, and pre-made samplers to reference. Plus, one of the industry's best sample machinists will be here to patiently walk you through the day.
Fabric Grains
We'll give you comprehensive handouts in basic textiles and the best way to sew them, we love to talk about fabric and sewing so we encourage queswtuions all day.
Using the Machine
Our handouts will also cover things like, machine tension, correct needle choices and much more. Bring your maschine if you need help threading or want some insight into how to better use yours. If not, use our domestics and low speed industrials.

The Pattern Making Class was founded by Glen Rollason and Scott Bowring, who together bring more than 55 years of experience across fashion design, pattern making and garment production.Scott has spent over 30 years working with Australian and international fashion brands including Sussan, Myer, Brooksfield and Cameo the Label, while managing large-scale production in China. Glen is an RMIT Fashion Design graduate and lectured there for 21 years across undergraduate and Masters programs. Early in his career he worked in the pattern room at Chanel, later winning Melbourne Fashion Festival's Young Designer of the Year for his labels ROLLASON and RUDEBOY.Together they run RB Patterns, Melbourne's leading freelance design and technical consulting studio. Their clients include Country Road, Camilla & Marc, Wrangler, Portmans, Perri Cutten and A.Emery, as well as organisations including Emirates, ACMI and the National Gallery of Australia.The Pattern Making Class was created to give aspiring makers access to practical, industry-current skills without committing to a full fashion degree.
