What you'll do

Step 1 on Arrival Get Setup

Once you arrive and have allocated seats, get your byo drinks and snacks ready for the session. Any food snacks are best at the start during the initial process of the introduction before getting your clay hands on

Step 2 Get Inspired with What to Make

Everyone can make something different, can be a mug or bowl, torso, animals like a highland Yak, we try and over whelmed you with inspiration.

Step 3 Introduction to Clay Chat

We will go through the process of turning pottery into ceramics. Along with hand building techniques required to make your piece a success.

Step 4 Getting Started and Make Your Creation

Its pretty exciting turning a block of clay into your creation. It is challenging however very rewarding

Step 5 Paint Your Creation with Under Glaze Paint

I know right. We have previously never offered this option painting on un-kilned clay. However it is a short cut, however we still have to kiln fire the piece twice. We will then coat in Glaze for you service, so we can put it through for a glazed finish for pickup in 4 weeks guaranteed.

Wesley Taylor Art Studios proudly presents their feature Boobie Mug hand building clay and sip class

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will create a clay Mug piece, so you get the best result. You’ll learn basic skills like hatching, sticking together and shaping forms and sculpting using earthenware pottery clay.

The artist instructing will do introduction basic of clay hand building at the front and then receive one-on-one guidance and assistance as needed, so you can make some great feature pieces to take home and display with pride! All the materials for your unique pottery piece will be supplied. At the end of the class, you will return home with your own self-made masterpiece. This venue is a studio in Brisbane City uptown shopping centre, with BYO drinks and food. Covid safe plan: Social spacing in place. Aprons will no longer be provided, however available for purchase in advance.

This class you will get to paint your piece in under glaze paints in the same class. It will also include the first bisk firing, and then we will glaze coat it for the second glaze firing. You will pickup a completed glazed piece in 4 weeks.

I'm a Brisbane-based artist, and I've been painting and drawing since my early childhood days. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship from the Queensland Art Gallery, which gave me ample opportunity to pursue my passion and hone my skills.

I'm very much inspired by the beauty and diversity of Australia. Many of my paintings focus on landscapes, surreal, animals and people. North Queensland is a particular favourite, and you'll see the influence of coral seas and mountain landscapes throughout my artwork. I have a post-impressionist style through which I try to capture the wonder of the world around us.

I specialise in pastel on card, and acrylic on canvas, though I'm also experimenting with abstract and air brush.

I've been fortunate enough to display my work in many art exhibitions, and have been the recipient of many prizes and awards.

I offer Paint and Sip sessions along with Clay and Sip sessions, both at discounted rates for ClassBento Patrons. I believe in bringing these experiences to the customer at the very best competitive price possible, the real Australian Way. The Retail on these sessions is RRP is $45 however I offer Clay and sip at $29 per person early bird tickets booked 3 days before, and Paint and Sip sessions from $29 per person Earlybird tickets when booked 3 days before. Our Friday and Saturday nights are also the most competitive prices found in Brisbane discounted down to $29 per person earlybird tickets. We offer the highest quality service with artist assistants to help customers with their paintings, along with the teachers. Our assistants will also run sessions so we will have two teachers for a single session. We have the largest range of paintings available with over 80 paintings on the gallery page of Wesley Taylor Art Studios, with the painting for each week can be found on the web page.

We hope you enjoy these sessions for a fun experience. The paintings are creative for maximum impact of colours, while keeping in mind for first time painting experience. Those with little more practice will create some amazing pieces
