What you'll do
Looking for relaxing things to do in Melbourne? Join Jessica in this beginner-friendly workshop, where you will learn how to dye a silk scarf using Australian native ingredients.
In this workshop, Jessica shares her love of eucalyptus and the wonder of experimenting with plants in textile design. You will learn some basic techniques for dyeing with eucalyptus and native bushfoods.
You will receive a small silk scarf which you will decorate with a wide range of eucalyptus plants. You will then bind the scarf and plant matter together to produce a dye bundle.
This will be processed through heat in a pot of eucalyptus dye after the workshop, and returned to you by mail.
This class is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in nature and be inspired to design beautiful patterns onto your scarves. Once it's been delivered to your home, it's ready to use and match with your outfits!

Jessica Gannaway is an artist and educator who works primarily in textiles, experimenting with slow eco-dyeing and botanical printing techniques that harness processes of rust and decay to create unpredictable patterns on fabric. Jess loves to share her love of eucalyptus and native plants, and the resulting creations, with participants.
