Hi, I'm Beck. I've been sewing since I was 10 years old, all self-taught. By the time I was 13 years old, I was pulling apart mum's lampshades to sew the tassels onto my handmade jackets for a disco. Needless to say, my mother was not impressed.
I started to teach sewing at 21 when I was employed by Janome Gladstone as a sales consultant in QLD. I loved everything about the job; it also enabled me to pursue my fashion design career. I ended up winning fashions on the field, designer day wear, and the bridal category. I was rapt; those nights waking up at 3:00 am to sketch paid off.
I went into business back in 2003 with my then-partner and opened 5 stores throughout Central Queensland. These were sewing machine and craft stores selling and teaching sewing machine, patchwork, dressmaking, quilting, and kids' classes. Our stores were among the top 10 in QLD for many years. Having won many awards enabled a lot of travel, both national and international.
I've recently moved to Traralgon, Victoria, and decided to start teaching again here in Victoria. I can do 2 - 8 hour/day or weekend workshops in any of the following -
Patchwork
Quilt as you go
Paper piecing
Kaleidoscope quilt class
Overlocker workshops
Coverstitch workshops
Sewing machine classes
Thread painting workshops
Tuffet making workshops
Machine embroidery workshops
Janome embroidery software workshops
Heirloom sewing machine workshops
Plus many more! I love to teach and have written all of my own patterns. I'm in the process of writing a book on all my lessons...this is on the back burner as I'd much prefer to get into teaching again. :) You can find me starting in February teaching a variety of different classes at Emporium 3844 in the Hotham St Arcade in Traralgon.
