Organic Ring Making Workshop

Make your own ring in 2 hours!

2 hours Class size 1 to 4 guests

  $150 (Afterpay available)

Design and create your own handmade organic ring. In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you'll sculpt your ring in wax, exploring organic forms, natural textures, and optional details such as gemstone setting. Your finished piece will then be professionally cast in a precious metal of your choice.
This workshop introduces the ‘build up’ and ‘take away’ method of wax carving — no experience needed. Over two enjoyable hours, you'll be guided step-by-step to create a sculptural piece that reflects your own style. Once cast, your ring will be durable, water-safe, and made to be worn every day.
What to expect:
Create your ring
Each participant will design and make one ring on the day using wax. The casting, polishing, and delivery of your pieces will be handled by me after the workshop. Your completed ring will be delivered approximately 4 weeks after the class.
Make it your own
This is your time to create. Explore organic forms, textures, fingerprint impressions, engravings, and optional gemstones. You decide the size, shape, and overall feel of your ring.
Weigh and choose your metal
At the end of the session, your wax ring is weighed, and you'll select the metal for casting. Options include sterling silver and gold (9-18ct). You'll only pay for the material used, giving you full control over the final cost. Most sterling silver rings range between $50-$250, depending on the metal chosen and the gems you select.
Booking your workshop
As each class is held in my working studio and kept to small numbers, workshop dates are flexible. Once your booking is received, I'll contact you to finalise all the details and answer any questions you may have.

Cost information
The cost of the precious metal used to cast your ring is not included in the workshop ticket price.
During the workshop, you’ll create your ring in wax. Once your design is finished, it will be weighed, and you can choose to have it cast in sterling silver or solid 9ct gold.
The final metal cost is calculated from the weight of your finished wax ring and your chosen metal, so you only pay for the amount of metal your individual design requires.
As a guide, most sterling silver rings cost approximately $80–$200 in metal, depending on the weight of your design.
All costs will be clearly explained during the workshop before you decide to have your ring cast — so there are no surprises.

Hi, I’m Emily West
I’m an artisan jeweller and silversmith based at Bendigo Pottery, where I’ve been creating and selling handcrafted jewellery for over 14 years.
My creative journey began with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics) and Honours studies, where I developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, materiality and the handmade process. While my early practice focused on clay, I eventually fell in love with metal and the endless possibilities of transforming recycled silver and gold into wearable art.
Teaching has become a natural extension of my practice. I love watching people discover skills they never knew they had and experience the satisfaction of creating something beautiful with their own hands. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a student leave with a ring they’ve made themselves and a newfound confidence in their creativity.
My workshops are intentionally small and relaxed, (Max 4) allowing plenty of individual guidance. Whether you’ve never picked up a jeweller’s tool before or you’re simply looking for a unique creative experience, I’ll guide you through every step of the way
