Mix up the textures – Incorporate crockery, glass, slate, mirror, smalti, wine bottle glass, glitter, bling, and textured thinset backgrounds to make a truly unique piece, with special effects.
Students are welcome to bring 1 (one) bucket of colourful crockery (mugs, cups, saucers, bowls, plates) to add extra flair and colour for the 3D mosaic flowers, (optional).
3D Flowers That Pop – Master the thinset push-in technique to build stunning floral mosaics with depth and dimension. Learn how to merge the flowers on your mosaic build, or create a stockpile to insert into any mosaic, anytime. All floral patterns are provided.
Finish & Hang Your Work – Take your time or race to finish your mosaics. You can add/refine at home if you wish! Since thinset adhesives need time to set, the final cleanup happens at home with full workshop notes included.

With over 25 years of mosaic mastery, Sandy has inspired countless students with her passion, expertise, and trailblazing techniques. If you’re ready to fall in love with mosaics, Sandy is the one to teach you!
Fully stocked supplies – Glues, crockery, base materials—just bring your creativity & a bucket of colourful cups, saucers, plates, and bowls if you wish (optional) to add some of your preferred colours to the mosaic flowers.
Patterns are provided for the cockatoo and the 3D flowers/leaves
– Everyone follows the same base patterns, as a guide, but of course your own flair will emerge in this mural.
Tools on loan – We've got your back with a loaner set of all necessary mosaic tools, safety glasses, paper dust mask, gloves, and an apron.
Shop & explore – Exclusive access to shop in our studio store during and/or after the workshop. Need supplies later on? Phone us to make an appointment or shop in our online store, The Mosaic Mall.
Create at your pace – Aim to finish in class, but if you want to add extra to your mosaic at home, go for it!
Whether you keep it simple or go bold with intricate flowers, it's all up to you!
Intermediate Level – Workshop A must be completed before taking this Workshop B.
Standing & Sitting Required – While sit-down workbenches are available, some tasks will require standing to mix adhesives, cut tiles, and shape flowers. The studio floor is concrete pavers, so ensure you're comfortable switching between sitting and standing throughout the weekend.
Tools in Use – You'll be working with Leponitt mosaic nippers, tile files, hammers, and scorer tools—hands-on and exciting! If time permits, we will also use a wet saw to shape crockery.
