The Tactile Goddess
With Ang Hart - as part of the "Connections Entwined" group exhibition at 95 on Nasmyth Gallery — An event of the National Cherry Festival 2026 (Young NSW)
Led by Ang Hart, a contemporary Australian artist and practising psychologist, The Tactile Goddess brings together expressive art, tactile exploration and themes of identity, belonging and taking up space. Inspired by Ang's Unburdened Bodies collection, this workshop invites you to explore your creativity in a supportive environment where individuality is celebrated and perfection is never the goal.
Using acrylic paints, mixed media and richly textured paste, participants will create a unique figurative artwork on canvas, exploring the human form through colour, texture and expressive mark-making. Learn techniques for building dimension, layering materials and embracing an intuitive, experimental artistic process.
Beyond the materials and techniques, this workshop invites you to reflect on your own identity, the places and experiences that shape your sense of belonging, and what it might mean to become unburdened by expectations that no longer serve you.

FAQ

I'm not artistic. Will I still be able to do this?
Absolutely! You don't need to consider yourself an artist to participate. This workshop is about experimentation, personal expression and enjoying the process rather than achieving a particular result.
Will my artwork look like the examples?
Your piece will be inspired by Ang's Unburdened Bodies collection, but every artwork will be different. You'll be encouraged to make your own creative choices and develop a piece that reflects your individual style.
Is this a therapeutic art session?
Ang Hart is both a practicing psychologist (registration details: AHPRA PSY0001711256 Angela Webb) and a contemporary artist, and her work explores the connections between creativity, identity and belonging. While this workshop offers an opportunity for personal reflection and self-expression through art, it is a creative experience rather than a psychological therapy session. No personal disclosure is expected — you are welcome to simply enjoy the process of making art. Do feel free to pick Ang's brain if you have any questions related to Psychology (She is a self confessed EMDR nerd!).
See more FAQs
Can I come on my own?
Of course! You are very welcome to attend on your own. It's an opportunity to enjoy some creative time for yourself, meet fellow participants and connect through art.
Can I take my artwork home straight away?
Your artwork will be created during the workshop. Because thick texture paste and layered acrylic paint can take time to dry, the surface may still be wet when the session finishes. Please plan to transport it carefully and keep it protected.
How big will my artwork be?
A standard 16 x 20 inch (40.6 x 50.8 cm) canvas on stretcher frame is included in this workshop. Larger canvases may be on hand at the venue for additional cost to the participant on the day, though availability is not guaranteed.
