Discover the art of truly seeing nature – and bringing it to life with coloured pencils.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll work from simple botanical subjects, such as leaves, and learn to look closely at their colours, shapes and subtle variations. You’ll discover how to analyse what you see and translate those observations onto paper using just a basic 12-colour pencil set.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, you’ll be introduced to practical coloured pencil techniques that show how much can be achieved with a limited palette.
No expensive collection of pencils is needed – through careful colour mixing and layering, you can create surprisingly rich and realistic results.
What you’ll learn:
  • Develop your understanding of colour and colour mixing
  • Observe botanical subjects closely to uncover subtle layers of colour
  • Build colour, depth and texture through layering
  • Make the most of a limited 12-colour palette
  • Apply these techniques through small, achievable botanical sketches
Come along and discover how truly seeing the colours in nature can transform the way you draw.
What you'll get
Work on several small sketches from real botanicals and take home your creations.

I was born in France and moved to Brisbane, joining the Botanical Art Society of Queensland in 2012.
A graphic designer by trade, my love for macro photography opened a new window into the botanical world. I specialises in coloured pencils focusing on close up details.
I exhibited with the society over numerous years and was part of the touring exhibition Artistic Endeavour, a contemporary response to the legacy of Banks, Solander and Parkinson in 2020.
I started teaching coloured pencils classes in 2019.
