In this action-packed workshop, we cover an array of skills to take your furniture painting or upcycling to the next level.
Learn about:
  • Painting kitchen splashbacks
  • Prep & sanding steps to prepare wooden surfaces for stain
  • Using Ultra Grip on shiny surfaces like tiles, glass, and melamine
  • How to stencil
  • How to decoupage
  • How to use Tough Coat for extra protection
  • How to wet sand with hemp oil for a buttery smooth finish
  • And how to use Stain & Finishing Oil (SFO) as both a stain and as a topcoat over paint.
You will take home a pair of decoupaged coasters, a stenciled practise tile, and a cute stenciled signboard to hang.
Take your painting skills to a whole other creative level! Places are limited, so get in early to avoid disappointment! Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Please note: Due to drying times, the coasters will not be fully sealed. We will cover how to use Tough Coat in the workshop so that if you wish to purchase some to take home with you (with a 10% discount), you will be equipped with the knowledge of how to seal them for more water resistance.

You don’t have to be an expert to update your own furniture. All you need is some quality paint, a good brush and some good advice. In my workshops, I will teach you upcycling techniques that will enable you to transform a piece of tired furniture: from trash to treasure!
Being creative - combining art through colour, design and creative thinking - with interesting yet discarded pieces of furniture, has been food for my soul. In a former life (pre-kids), I was a principal dancer with The Birmingham Royal Ballet, and lead dancer with the Australian Ballet. Being immersed in ballet’s theatrically creative environment inspired my ‘look’ and prompted my desire to further pursue my interest in design with the Interior Design Institute of London.
What I bring to you in my upcycling workshops, are years of creativity and upcycling experience through my business: Ballerina with a Paintbrush. I specialise in all projects which paint can bring alive; from furniture to even kitchen makeovers! My workshops will give you the knowledge and tools to begin your own upcycling addiction.
