Porcelain Pottery Workshop: Sculpt Your Own Picture Box

Make your own dream world in porcelain clay!

2 hours Class size 8 to 10 guests       $115

Step into a gentle space of creativity with ceramic artist Sandra Noa and create your very own porcelain picture box—a small sculptural scene nestled within a handmade frame.
In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the unique qualities of porcelain clay—its softness, strength, and subtle beauty. Sandra will guide you through working slowly and mindfully with this delicate material, helping you gain confidence and appreciation for its responsive nature.
You’ll learn how to:
  • Hand build a simple arched form as your base
  • Sculpt small elements and textures to express your dream world
  • Work with porcelain in its raw, unglazed state to let its natural surface shine
  • Embrace a slower, intuitive making process
What you place inside your piece is entirely up to you—whether it’s a quiet landscape, a symbolic moment, or something entirely abstract. Each work will be unique, shaped by your imagination and made with intention.
This workshop welcomes all skill levels, from beginners to experienced makers. All materials and firing are included.

Hi! I'm Sandra. My practice centres on creating refined, contemplative pieces in porcelain—celebrated for its delicacy, strength, and quiet beauty.

I work slowly and intentionally, handcrafting each piece as a meditation on form, light, and texture. I choose not to glaze my work, allowing the natural surface of porcelain to shine—highlighting its purity, softness, and translucency. My forms explore the tension between fragility and resilience, inviting stillness and reflection.
With a lifelong appreciation of the arts and a deep respect for traditional techniques, I allow the unique qualities of porcelain to guide my process. In my workshops, I create space for slow making and mindful connection through clay, encouraging participants to tune into their creativity, embrace the process, and find beauty in simplicity.
Join me to learn the techniques of working with porcelain and to experience the quiet joy of creating with intention and presence.

Hi, I’m Carys Martin, and I’ve been living and breathing art for as long as I can remember.
I taught my very first workshop at just 15 years old, and that early experience lit a spark that’s never gone out. After earning my degree in Art in 1997 and a PGCE in 1998, I’ve spent the years creating, exhibiting, and sharing my love for art through teaching.
With over 35 years of teaching experience across the UK, US, and Australia, I’ve helped thousands of people tap into their creativity. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned maker, I aim to create a warm, welcoming space where you can explore, experiment, and grow.
Ceramics is my passion—there’s something magical about transforming clay into something both beautiful and functional. I exhibit and sell my own ceramic art and run all my workshops from my own studio—a vibrant, inspiring space where creativity flows freely. It’s not just my teaching home; it’s also a shared creative hub where other talented artists run their own workshops, making it a rich and ever-evolving space for learning and connection.
Teaching, for me, is about more than passing on skills—it’s about igniting confidence, joy, and self-expression. Creativity feeds the soul, and I truly believe everyone has the ability to make something meaningful.
If you're ready to try something new, get your hands dirty, and create something uniquely yours, I’d love to welcome you into the studio. Come join us—and let’s make something beautiful together.
