Metalsmithing Jewellery Making Masterclass

At this jewellery-making class, you'll delve into the world of metalsmithing/silversmithing with professional silversmith Jemica. In this workshop, you will discover how to design and fabricate textured jewellery using recycled metals and pure silver. Each month, you'll explore different skills to build on your technique. Choose one class or attend them all.SESSION 1 - Monday, 16th March - 10am-1pm Introduction to metalsmithing with the use of saw, drill, and metal glues using aluminium, brass, and copper fabrics. Make up to 2 pieces - choose your own designs from key rings, earrings, badges, necklaces, or design your own.Under Jemica's guidance, you will learn essential metalsmithing techniques such as mark making and hand sawing. Add your creative flair while mastering sawing, texturing, sanding, and polishing skills. Soldering technique, sizing and polishing, using different patinas, and so much more!In these immersive workshops, participants will create the way they choose to and let their unique style shine using foundational metalsmithing skills and basic soldering techniques. You'll shape metal, solder, attach posts and bails, and add texture to your pieces. Choose from various metals and designs to express your unique style.

Each month, a new and exciting technique is introduced.In this eye-opening experience, children (aged 8 to 17), teens, and adults can explore the possibilities of a future career or hobby in metalsmithing. Parents are welcome to join or assist their children for free. Remember to wear enclosed shoes, tie back hair, and avoid loose clothing.This class is part of the Grounded Village Futures program, offering a glimpse into creative futures and career paths in metal and silversmithing.
