Throw on the Wheel
You'll learn to center the clay on the wheel and make basic forms each week.
Trim and Handle
The following week you will trim the base and do any tidying up. Adding handles also happens then.
Glazing Time
Bring your pottery to life with colour, many glazing options available.
Pick Up Your Pottery
Once your pottery has been fired in the kiln it'll be ready for pick up 2-4 weeks after the end of the course.
- Week 1 will focus on centering the clay and pulling walls - also learning the lingo ;)
- Weeks 2-4 will focus on learning to make different forms and practising your shapes, also trimming your pieces made the previous week.
- Week 5 will be spent decorating and cleaning up your pieces to get ready for the first firing.
- Week 6 will be spent glazing your pieces to be fired.
- Classes: If you have changed your mind about completing a class, please let me know within 7 days of booking for a full refund/exchange of dates. Unless you book less than 7 days prior to the class.
- If the change of mind happens in the 7 days leading up to the class only a 50% refund/exchange is possible, unless your spot can be filled.
- Extenuating circumstances do happen, if in doubt, please speak with us about your situation.

- Between 20-30 pieces of functional pottery that you can use every day, microwave and dishwasher safe (pending correct glazing).
- The pottery wheels have a remote foot pedal that can be moved to each side depending what is easiest for you. All tools supplied.

Please wear enclosed shoes and comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty - aprons will be provided for you to wear while on the wheel.

What first started as a fun activity with some girlfriends quickly turned into a full blown obsession turn business!9 years ago Nancy took night pottery classes with some friends for a bit of creative fun, quickly becoming hooked on the craft, she went down the rabbit hole and did a full year of classes before buying her very own pottery wheel."I knew I wouldn't be able to last the Christmas holidays without playing with clay, so I bought the first wheel I could find and quickly got my hands dirty at home." Nancy spent every spare minute she could creating anything clay related. From functional tableware on the wheel, to experimenting with hand building. Nancy soon realised the love that was developing for the pottery wheel and she focused fully on creating and improving her skills in the wheel.While Nancy was slowly increasing her pottery skills in her down time, her day job lead her into RTO teaching for Horticulture and while she enjoyed teaching apprentices she knew that teaching pottery would become her new dream job. Fast forward a couple of years, a house move, renovation and equipment acquisition. Fancy Nancy Ceramics was ready to launch pottery classes in Wallsend.
