$80 - $119 (Earlybird price of $80 applies if you book into a public session 10+ days ahead) (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

This isn't a paint-by-numbers afternoon. You're building your very own piece of a world, complete with figurines to take home at the end of the session.
You'll construct a miniature Star Wars diorama from scratch—choosing your planet, designing your terrain, painting your figures, and creating a scene that tells a story unique to you.
Every participant gets one Imperial and one Rebel miniature from the Star Wars Legion range, plus a custom-built display box with a slide-in background panel. What happens between those two figures? That's up to you to decide.
We'll work with paint, cardboard, PVA, foam, recycled materials, and whatever it takes to make Endor feel like Endor or Tatooine feel like Tatooine. No experience needed—just a willingness to get into it.
Note: Parent/guardian attendance is encouraged—not just for supervision, but because there's a lot to build and there is fun in doing it together. Some steps (knife work, super glue) require adult assistance. If a parent or guardian is unable to attend, we will have instructors on hand to assist. Parents/guardians who are also Star Wars fans and would like to purchase their own ticket can also create their own diorama!
What to expect
This isn’t just about putting paint on plastic; it’s about focus, patience, creativity, and imagination. Led by experienced artists, our workshop covers the basics of miniature painting and diorama creation in a fun, pressure-free environment. We aim to provide a fun introduction to world-building to fuel creativity.
Why join?
  • Develop Focus: Painting miniatures requires concentration and steady hands—great practice for school-age kids.
  • Build Confidence: There is nothing like the pride of finishing a project and holding a character they created themselves.
  • Great for fans of the Star Wars universe and creative kids alike!
While this workshop is Star Wars themed, the skills taught in this workshop can be easily applied to other miniature painting.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Assembly is a creative hub located in the heart of Newcastle, born from a desire to bridge the gap between community and craft. While our sister brand, Scrubba Body, focuses on natural skincare, Assembly is the physical space where we invite you to step behind the scenes and create.
Our workshops are intentionally designed to be high-quality and accessible. We focus on the "process" as much as the final product, providing a minimalist, professional environment where you can disconnect from the digital world and work with your hands. While I coordinate the curriculum, Assembly is a collective effort; we host a rotating roster of expert makers—from candle makers to photographers—who are all masters of their respective crafts.
Whether you’re visiting our Newcastle studio for a team-building event or a solo weekend hobby, our goal is to provide the space and the tools for you to make something you’re actually proud to display.
