Join Melissa for a calm and creative clay play workshop in Sandgate, Brisbane. In this beginner-friendly pottery class, you’ll learn the basics of clay hand-building while making your own ceramic piece, such as a small bowl or simple mug.
Over the session, Melissa will guide you through the process of working with clay and encourage you to personalise your design. No experience is needed; this is a relaxed and welcoming workshop perfect for beginners.
Guests can decorate their creations with underglazes or simple textures. After the workshop, each piece will be professionally glazed and kiln-fired, making it strong, durable, and ready for pickup in approximately three weeks.

I’m Melissa, a potter and English teacher based in Brighton on the northern bayside of Brisbane. I've been more seriously doing pottery for about four years after taking a class in wheel throwing. Working with clay is addictive, good for personal well-being, and achievable — and that’s why I keep coming back to it.
I now work from my home studio, where I enjoy both hand-building and wheel throwing objects that I mostly gift to family and friends. I'm a member of my local community studio, which allows me to learn from other potters. I now fire at home wiht my own kiln and mix many of my own glazes.
Alongside making, I've taught high school English and Arts for about ten years. My workshops are calm, encouraging and thoughtfully structured — and I cater mostly for beginners
I'm fairly confident that after a class or two, you may catch the very contagious pottery bug and I hope you do.
