What you'll do
Looking for productive things to do at home? Learn to make your own cheese! You will eat well, save money, and feel empowered by developing a new culinary skill.
Discover simple ways to make handmade, great-tasting cheese at home. In this workshop, Valerie Pearson will demonstrate the basics of cheese and yogurt making and show you how to make your own mozzarella cheese using common kitchen equipment.
As you watch the demonstration, you will get to nibble on delicious samples of cheese and immerse yourself in the experience.
Please be advised this is a demonstration only workshop, you will not actually make cheese. For a hands-on workshop, this will be a half-day class, which we will be doing in the near future.
After this cheese-making crash course, you will be able to purchase the equipment you need to start making your own cheese at home. Armed with that, along with the knowledge you picked up in this workshop, you will be ready to set off on your own adventures into cheese-land!
Note: Please be mindful when booking this workshop that the venue is located on the second floor of the building, with stairs going up to the room. This room is only accessible by the staircase, so unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to this room.

Theoretically this class was interesting and the presenter Valerie made the making of cheese seem very easy to the observer.
The tasting was also enjoyable.
I do feel the ‘ class’ should be labelled ‘Cheese making demonstration and tasting’.
I was expecting a more hands on practical approach and that I would be making some type of cheese- this was disappointing.
A suggestion of having attendees each participate in a step of the different cheeses being developed in the class could easily meet this expectation.
