Yun Chen, 13th generation inheritor of Chen’s Taijiquan. I teach privately based on a personalized plan for each student's strengths, needs, and interests. Taijiquan, also known as Tai Chi, is inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Taijiquan Day is officially March 21st, designated by UNESCO, the first UN international day for a martial art, celebrating its cultural value, health benefits (balance, harmony, peace), and philosophy, timed with the spring equinox to reflect yin-yang balance. Created nearly 400 years ago in China, Taijiquan takes its name from Taiji, a Chinese philosophical concept that dates back several millennia. Originally developed as a martial art for combat, Taijiquan features a distinctive system of movements rooted in Taiji philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine, making it exceptionally beneficial for both mind and body. People around the world practice Taijiquan for a wide range of purposes today. Taijiquan supports overall health and wellness, even practiced by astronauts aboard space stations, aids patients in their recovery, assists businesspeople in strategic thinking, and enables students to improve their focus and study more effectively. Taijiquan also remains applicable for self-defense. Some professionals in fighting competitions like UFC incorporate Taijiquan into their foundational training and derive significant benefits from it.
