In Chinese culture, bamboo is the symbol of perseverance, integrity, virtuous. It also represents the elasticity of life and the spirit of truth.

This workshop will feature the beauty of Chinese bamboo painting in Qing and Ming Dynasty style (the most famous style) and how to successfully achieve these effects in your painting. You will use a composition of your choice to complete a bamboo landscape in ink and brushes.

In this class you will learn about:
- Chinese bamboo painting culture
- Using ink and brushes to create bamboo and bamboo leaves
- Distance effects of bamboos
- Traditional Chinese Painting composition

About the tutor
Silka Huang is a Chinese Painting artist, specialises in landscapes and ‘flowers and birds’. She completed her Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in China on an academy scholarship.
Silka's works have featured in different exhibitions and competitions. Her works are displayed in China, Italy and the United States.

Silka Huang



Silka Huang is a Chinese Painting artist, specialises in landscapes and ‘flowers and birds’. She completed her Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in China on an academy scholarship.

Silka's works have featured in different exhibitions and competitions. Highlights include the Excellent Artworks Collection in XAFA, Chinese Young Artists Exhibition in 2017, and Graduates Art Fair in 2017. Her works are displayed in China, Italy and the United States of America.

She started tutoring since 2013 and held painting courses and workshops. She used to work as an art teacher at Guangzhou Guangyuan Middle School. Currently, she conducts public workshops of Chinese Painting and watercolour in Australia.
