What you'll do
Discover the joy of classical Islamic illumination techniques in this more advanced workshop.Join us to improve your brushstroke and colour skills, as well as your understanding of the classic techniques of the beautiful designs inspired by the Ottoman and Mughal periods.In this class, you'll work with traditional patterns and transfer techniques, and use gouache paint on premium watercolour papers.You will learn about different symbols and design techniques, and practise drawing them.Then, you will transfer a design of your choice into watercolour paper and paint your design. You will also complete the outlining (‘Tahrir’) process using ink pens.This workshop is about celebrating the intricate floral patterns found in historic manuscripts showcased beautifully in the artistic traditions of the Safavid, Ottoman, and Mughal periods.Our experienced instructor will guide you through each step, offering helpful tips and encouragement along the way. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with watercolours, this class is designed for you to learn and develop your skills in a supportive environment.To enhance your experience, we'll also provide Turkish tea and sweets, adding a touch of Anatolian culture to the workshop. Join us for a delightful afternoon of creativity, relaxation and the joy of watercolour painting.Note:
