2 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests

$105 - $120 (Earlybird price of $105 applies if you book into a public session 10+ days ahead) (Afterpay available)

Spend a relaxing afternoon in the studio, pinching clay and creating your very own ceramic dagger keepsake.
In this workshop, you will get to choose from three different clays: white, sandy grogged, or black, while learning about the unique qualities of each clay to inform your decision. After you have chosen your clay, you will be able to begin pinching and carving your dagger. You will have the freedom to take your time and create. You could make two small daggers that can be used as keychain accessories, or you can make one larger decorative piece. The creativity is all yours, and I will be there to assist you in executing your ideas.
Once you have finished working with clay, you will get to choose from over 20 different ceramic glazes, selecting up to three different glazes and discussing different layering options and effects. Once your dagger has been through its first firing, I will apply your chosen glaze(s) to your piece for you, before it then gets fired once more and is ready for you to pick up.
These daggers are not sharp; they are purely decorative and make for a beautiful and unique gift or personal keepsake.

I'm Grace and I am a multimedia artist based in South East Melbourne. I have been making and selling artwork since i was about 13 years old and have never really been able to settle on a specific medium - until ceramics. I started ceramics in 2021 with the intention of becoming the wheel thrower of my friend group - 'come to me if you need a new bowl!', however that hobby very quickly turned into my everyday and then as of early 2025 - my full time job. Although I started ceramics on a pottery wheel, i slowly moved my practice over to be more centred around handbuilding. I love the intuitive nature that comes with handbuilding and i find it compliment's illustrative glazing really nicely. My decade of oil painting, realism graphite drawing and fineline illustration has come to heavily influence how i approach making my ceramic pieces, and I love sharing how to pull from other art practices to collaborate with clay to create a one of a kind piece of functional artwork.
