Fused Glass Workshop for Beginners

Create your own fused glass platter & set of coasters in the Macedon Ranges

2 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests

$160 - $165 (Afterpay available)
($165 per guest when you book for 1 guest, $160/guest for 2+ guests)

In this art glass workshop, you will discover a new medium and have fun with friends while creating your very own large glass platter and set of coasters!
Your instructor will go over the different types of glass and give you a brief rundown on art glass, including System 96 which you will be using to create your pieces. You will be shown the different forms of glass as well as examples of opaque and translucent coloured glass so you can develop your piece. You will be guided in the basics of glass working, including breaking, shaping and designing with glass.
Everyone will be provided with appropriate sized bases of glass for their projects to ensure a solid finished piece after firing. Then working with glass pieces, frits, powders, stringers, and beads you will create and glue your designs ready for firing.
A range of ceramic moulds for shaping platters will also be discussed and you can choose to shape your artwork into a functional dish or leave it flat as a piece of art. Each piece will then be put through our kiln 1-3 times depending on the desired finish and shape of your piece.
As the kilns take time to heat and cool, the glass projects will need to be collected after the class, dependent on the amount of work in the firing queue platters can take up to 2 weeks to be completed.
Anyone who wishes to have their pieces returned via post can add return postage on the booking page and we will ask for the shipping address on the day.
