This course is suitable for beginners to advanced students. Beginners will learn basic flatware, slip casting and decorating techniques. Advanced potters will have the chance to design and manufacture a beautiful dinner set they can be super proud of!
Here's a breakdown of what you'll learn each week:
- Week one: Get acquainted with clay and learn essential techniques like handling, recycling, and rolling. We'll also dive into textures, potters marks, and design concepts. You'll begin by making four large plates.
- Week two: Continue building your dinner set by creating four small plates and four bowls using either hand building or slip casting techniques.
- Week three: Make or slip cast four cups and put the finishing touches on your plates and bowls.
- Week four: Complete all your pieces including plates, bowls, and cups. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to create a larger bowl or platter along with spoons. Let's start glazing your work!
- Week five: Put the final touches on your glazing and get ready to showcase your masterpiece. Capture its beauty with a photograph before taking it home.
