I also felt the technical side of the burning technique wasn’t explained well enough. Too much time was spent explaining basic tool operation rather than technique. Thankfully, my mum was there to help us. Overall, I didn’t feel the class was worth the $110.

Carolyn was a great teacher and provided clear and concise guidance on how we could create the designs in our hats. Carolyn was very accommodating with providing additional stencils that we’d personally chosen so we could personalise our creations. Highly recommend this workshop and Carolyn for anyone feeling creative.

The instructor is knowledgeable, patient, and takes the time to guide you through the process, making it suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience. The class has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and there’s plenty of support to help you feel confident using the tools and creating your own design. It’s such a fun and creative experience, and I always leave feeling proud of what I’ve made. Definitely something I’d do again and recommend to others looking to try something different. I have added photos of my finished products, they are held in a macrame hat hanger, which is another class available at meraki, which I again highly recommend

The step-by-step guidance made it easy to learn the basics of pyrography (wood burning) techniques on felt hats, even as a beginner. I loved having the creative freedom to design something personal while still feeling supported throughout the process. The tips on shading, line work, and composition were especially helpful, and it was amazing to see how each person’s hat turned out completely unique. I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone wanting to try something creative, hands-on, and a little bit different. Such a fun experience.

She was an incredible teacher—so informative, patient, and clearly passionate about her craft. Caroline did a fantastic job guiding us through the process, making it both fun and approachable, even for beginners. The atmosphere was relaxed and inspiring, and I walked away not only with a beautiful hat, but also with a newfound appreciation for the art. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a creative and memorable experience!
