What you'll do
Looking for unique things to do with friends this weekend? Join Live Life Happy for their hands-on painting course and create a stunning artist book to use after class.
This painting course provides bookmaking and art beginners with an opportunity to have fun, explore a new creative outlet, plant seeds of ideas and gain experience of how artists books may be incorporated with existing personal art practices or as a whole new adventure into art.
You'll be making this concertina art book from scratch and then painting covers and pages using an intuitive painting process of layering with transparent paints, stencilling and mark-making that's fun, easy and totally unique.
There will be dancing (to loosen up), splashing, spraying, scraping, dripping, laughing and a head-over-heels love affair with colour. You will end up with a very personal, totally unique artist book that can be displayed as a form of meaningful art about a meter in length!

Melanie Dilday is a gypsy soul. She spends some time every year on her fella’s yacht on the East coast near Byron Bay and the rest of the time is generally spent travelling Australia in her Hiace Campervan, teaching and painting and writing. That’s why she is so flexible with the venue of her workshops. She can hold workshops at your home...think paint and sip parties, hens nights, friends weekends or community arts venues.
Having taught mixed media at various art centers like Camp Creative in NSW, Fremantle Arts Centre, WA, Grafton Artfest, NSW, Bribie Island Community Arts, Qld, McGregor Arts Retreat, Qld, Contemporary Craft Retreat, ACT. Mel has also involved herself with personal growth throughout her life and written a best seller book Buddha in a Red Dress, so she has the technical experience and warm communication skills needed to be a good teacher. Her positive energy helps stretch people’s creativity, technical skills and artistic abilities.
Mel's simple, playful and intuitive processes will act as a bridge, connecting you with your inherent creativity.
