Does your child love music? Give them the chance to step behind the decks and learn the art of DJing in a fun, supportive environment!
Designed for children and teens, this workshop can be booked as a private one-on-one session or as a fun group activity for up to four friends. Got a group of 5 or more? Check out my Mobile DJ Party Workshop listing!
We move away from the intimidating feel of traditional lessons and use Algoriddim's djay Pro alongside the Pioneer DDJ-FLX2 - hardware that is tactile, age-appropriate, and incredibly fun to use.
Music:
We focus on the music kids actually listen to! By using Spotify and Apple Music streaming integration, we can pull up almost any tracks they love, ensuring they stay engaged while learning the fundamentals of rhythm, timing, and song structure.
Why book this class?
  • Proven Experience: I have been hosting adult students for nearly 2 years with over 50 five-star reviews. You can view my 'Club-Ready DJ Workshop' here on ClassBento to see what other students have to say.
  • Builds Confidence: Students start with basic elements and, within a single session, build their skills through hands-on play. This process of creation is a powerful self-esteem booster while developing technological literacy.
  • Safety and Comfort First: Steven holds a valid Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC). Furthermore, our workstations utilise headphones, meaning there is no loud, disruptive noise during the session!
  • Parent-Friendly: Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch, or you can drop them off and let them focus on their new creative hobby at my Northcote studio.
We cover:
  • The Gear: Understanding the buttons, faders, and "jog wheels" on the controller.
  • Song Selection: Finding tracks that work well together and understanding tempo.
  • The Mix: Using the crossfader and EQs to transition seamlessly between songs.
  • Creative Play: Using loops and fun sound effects to make the mix entirely their own.
Whether they want to be the next DJ superstar or just want a cool new hobby, this session is all about getting them engaged in creativity and music - book your spot today!
(Please note: As this is a new listing, availability is currently limited to Sundays only. However, if you would like to arrange another time, please send me a direct message!)

I am Steve, I have been DJing and mixing music for over 10 years now. Based in the inner-north of Melbourne.
What started as a hobby in 2014 quickly became a passion! Since then I have recorded and published mixes, played at indoor and outdoor events, and taught DJ mixing lessons - from the beginner all the way up to advanced.
I have experience playing all types of house, techno and disco - but am open to all genres of music. My passion for sound and technology directly translates to a well-paced and precisely articulated direction when teaching the nuances of mixing music.
I enjoy teaching others and am here to help deepen your knowledge and understanding of DJing - and have fun in the process.
Let's mix some tracks together!
