Looking for school holiday activities in Melbourne that get kids off screens and into something social and creative? Paint With Me Melbourne runs the leading art classes in Northcote, with real artists and real opportunities to make friends with other creative kids.
This is a guided acrylic painting experience on canvas, open to all children aged 5 up to 14. No experience needed. No supplies to buy. You don't need to bring a smock, like other art spaces.
Just show up, meet the artists, and follow along and paint.
Each class is led step by step by a professional artist, so even first-time painters leave with a finished canvas artwork they are proud of showing mum and dad. More experienced young artists will find plenty to work with too! If your child is a total beginner or already filling sketchbooks at home, this is an art class for kids that meets them exactly where they are.
What makes these classes special:
  • Every week, our creativity boosting program focuses on a different painting subject, which means kids can come back each term and try something new.
  • The acrylic painting techniques they learn, including colour mixing, brushwork, and composition, build real artistic skills in a way that feels relaxed, fun, and age-appropriate.
  • This is not a craft kit, and it's not free drawing or unstructured. This is a proper beginner art class for kids, guided by a working artist who loves teaching.
All materials are provided, including canvas, acrylic paints, and brushes. Your child just needs to arrive ready to have a good time.
Our studio:
Paint With Me is Melbourne's leading artist hub, with something for everyone. We'relocated at 579 High St Northcote, in one of Melbourne's most creative neighbourhoods. The studio is warm, welcoming, and fully set up for a great class experience. Two studio rooms, private bathrooms, and a kitchenette are all on site. Feel free to pack snacks and drinks for your child to enjoy during the session. Comfortable, casual clothing is recommended (paint happens!).
Getting here is easy:
  • The studio is right on the 86 tramline, close to Croxton station, and served by multiple bus routes.
  • There is ample parking on High St and at the BWS next door.
  • The entrance is fully wheelchair accessible.
Why parents keep coming back:
  • A genuinely screen-free school holiday activity in Melbourne, with real artistic skills built in
  • Professional artist instruction, step by step, so every child finishes something they love
  • Beginner to intermediate, ages 5 and up - all skill levels welcome, all materials included
  • Warm, friendly studio environment where kids feel comfortable from the moment they walk in
  • New painting subject every school holiday program, so it never gets old
Paint With Me has been running award-winning kids' art classes in Northcote for over six years, with more than 1600 reviews online and a 4.9-star Google rating.
We would love to welcome your little creator to come and paint with us.
