La Onda Latin Mex has been a real dream, as we migrated to Australia from El Salvador in the late 80's. As a young family, we were ready for a new start of peace and freedom. Hard work, ups, downs plus many opportunities later, we are established and settled in our roots with new branches.Our family revolves around love, appreciation for good things, respect for tradition and creating a legacy for the next generation. The matriarch of the familia, Roxy (aka Mama Roxy) is a strong, proud Latina with a big heart, high standards and positive values that filter through every part of our business model. As a little girl, she was exposed to the kitchen where she learnt to cook with her paternal grandmother. She recalls the smells, the flavours and most importantly, the feeling she got when cooking for others. Coming to Australia was her new beginning, she learnt English + dove into her culinary career, working in restaurants, commercial kitchens, Crown Casino banqueting and finally her own kitchen at La Onda Latin Mex, serving a fiesta for your taste buds on a plate.Our family is inspired to create something different, unique and rewarding, we are committed to bringing you the best of Latin culture with a twist of contemporary feel. We chose Mornington Peninsula as the beach and good vibes reminds us of our Latin American landscape, alongside the abundance of fresh produce, great wine and the happiest people. 'La Onda' translates to: the vibe, the frequency, the wave....so it's very fitting!La Onda Latin Mex is coming into it's 7th year (we opened in 2018) and we're excited to continue our adventure, as a small business with a big heart. We are able to dance to the beat of our own drum with you, our extended familia.Gracias!
