Over two days, you will learn the foundational processes of skinning, fleshing, preserving the skin, form preparation, mounting, posing, adding finishing touches, and caring for your creation.
If you're new to taxidermy, there's no need to worry. This course caters to all levels, from beginners to intermediate students, providing a supportive environment for learning. Led by Dee, a seasoned professional taxidermist with over 15 years of experience, you'll receive expert guidance and personalised attention in a small group setting.
Throughout the class, you'll work with all necessary tools and materials provided, ensuring a seamless and immersive learning experience. Dee's passion for teaching traditional taxidermy shines through, emphasising ethical sourcing practices and the transformative nature of this unique art form.
The class structure focuses on practical skills over theoretical knowledge, allowing you to discover the fascinating world of taxidermy through hands-on experience. You'll be provided with a list of materials (which are readily available) and tools to reference for your future taxidermy projects.
By the end of the course, not only will you have acquired a new skill, but you'll also proudly showcase your one-of-a-kind piece of art at home.
If any of these days don't suit you, you may request another day and time for 1-4 people. Other specimens to preserve include a rat and small quail, or you can even request to work on your own ethically sourced specimen. Message Dee on which you're interested in working on and your requested day.
