Perfect, honestly. Most of our students haven't either. We start with the basics and build from there - no catching up required.
Q: Can I choose what I draw?
Yes! Sessions are student-led, so if you have a subject in mind — a pet, a landscape, a still life - bring a reference photo and we'll work with it.
Q: Do I need to buy anything beforehand?
Nope. All materials are included. If you have a favourite pencil or sketchbook you love working with, feel free to bring it, but it's not necessary.
Q: Is this a one-off class or can I come back?
Both! You can book a single session or return as many times as you like. Many students come regularly to keep building their skills.
Q: Is the studio accessible?

Together we will build an idea of your goals and motivations for learning to draw, and pick up a pencil.
Learning the Artist's Secrets
In the very first lesson, you’ll be coached through essential, repeatable exercises that give us our reputation for being a leader in Melbourne’s art educators. Your world will open up to reveal a new perspective and you’ll realise that drawing like a pro is actually achievable for you.
Finding Your Style
These are lessons directed by you. Once you’ve got a few art tricks up your sleeve, you will be guided through finding your unique drawing style. You’ll be guided, coached, and encouraged as you broaden your knowledge and deepen your awareness of artistic strengths.
- Student-led pacing - Your session is shaped around what you want to explore and improve. Inspiration isn’t for “creative people” but something to tap into. You show us your inspiration, and we’ll help you construct the well.
- All mediums welcome - Coloured pencils, graphite, charcoal, pastels, ink, etc. All materials provided, come exactly as you are.
- Fine arts structure - Together, we will develop real technique foundations, not make you follow along and copy.
- Small, welcoming studio - Bright and colourful, no intimidating gallery vibes. We’re upbeat, accessible, and known for our supportive energy and great company.
